Put key in push button. It 'half' turned over then stopped. Thought it was odd in 250k it has only not started once removed keys immobiliser button again JIC, key in push button, all lights on dash board flick off and on again with a click but no engine turnover. I have been doing a lot of short journeys (sub 5 miles) and the roof has been going up and down etc. So naturally I suspected battery. Tried jumping it but got the same click with no turn over. Anyone got any ideas?

If you battery is bad and your jumper cables are cheap, it will not crank. If your battery is good, let the car sit for 5 min with cables attached and doner car running. Then try it.

I still say dead battery. Go buy the heaviest cables you can find.

I had the same symptom when the battery was bad or very low. when the battery is good, the dash board doesn't flick off.

or make sure the connection of jump cable. last time I thought I clipped it in the right place (right above the battery terminal and connectors), but it wasn't. Try several place
