I have a soft "clatter" for lack of a better word. I am always on the listen for an individual click or knock of a more even interval.

Check Those Timing chain tensioners. They seem to be a source of ticking also.

You usually get that when you are Low in oil......

Being low on oil doesn't have anything to do with the problems that have been reported with the timing chain tensioners. I've had to replace mine already, and I was never low on oil.
