Hi,
A few days ago I noticed that there would be a few drops of oil under my car in the morning after parking it overnight. Tonight I decided to jack the car up and see what was going on. Here is what I found:
BTW, the oil pan is a Spoon pan powder coated red for those wondering.
What your seeing through the hole in the second picture is the flywheel!
Any comments?
BTW, the surrounding areas were covered in oil but I cleaned it up.

Ouch, thats a bad one. Don't know what could have caused specific damage like that.
I think a fairly reliable way of repairing it rather then pay for a new housing would be to go with JB Weld. Any other input on this?

I dont think thats damage, but rather a rough cast.
If its oil coming out of there, its your rear engine seal.
The reason I say "if" is because it might be possible for the front seal of the tranny to seap all the way up there past the clutch.

Was there oil on the outside of the engine up higher? If your valve cover is leaking, it will run straight down to that part and drip from there as well. I spilled a bit of oil when filling my engine the other day and that is where is ran down to.

If I remember correctly an opening at that spot is designed to allow friction material to drop from the bell housing, and is normal although that one looks to be enlarged. But oil should not come from that opening, indicating a bad seal on either the engine or transmission.

I believe I found out the source of the leak. The trace of oil begins exactly where my oil pan is tapped for my oil drain line. It starts off by covering a few of the cooling fins on the oil pan and then spreads out more the more you look towards the back. Could everybody agree that this is most likely whats leaking?
