Noob Question: Will Reseting the ECU Harm the Car?
Sorry for the noob question...
I have a lightweight battery (Deka 9lbs) and it does not hold enough charge to keep ECU memory. For example, ECU clears after the car sits for 10mins. The car has no radio, speakers, or power outlet. However, I do have an Emanage Ultimate. Is this bad for the car or ECU?
Edit: The car is taken out only on weekends.

Everytime your battery dies or you disconnect it, the first time you start it afterwards, you must let it relearn idle. Start it, dont even think about touching the gas pedal, and let it warm until is hits normal operating temperatures. Its actually good to reset the ecu sometimes. It lets the car reevaluate the signals from all the sensors. With a little wear, corrosion, fouling, and age the sensors send signal that are a tiny bit different than when they were new.

Clyde,
You can drive the car immediately, just take it easy for a while to let the car relearn the fuel trims.
Do you have a custom tune on the EMU or a "black" EMU from Giles?

i love ketchup too.
which deka battery are you using? i had a 6lb deka batter on my insight before i sold it. i forgot the model number but the battery would go low really quick. maybe 1 hour with radio on.
to answer your question its fine but if i was the ecu i'd be annoyed.

What about sending in OBD2 mode 4 requests to clear DTCs and the MIL/CEL? I've read that it resets the learned oxygen sensor data but does it knock out the idle learn and other important things? Would there be a problem doing this frequently (every time the car starts or more frequently for instance)?
