Default noisy top

I have a loud top and there is wind noise that increases as my speed does. Although, when i pull down on the top handle in the middle, it goes away. How do i fix this? Is it possible for the buckles/latches to become loose and not pull down tight enough?

There are a number of fixes for this but I belive that one of the more popular ones is to place plastic tubing around the hooks so they clamp down a bit tighter. I could be misunderstanding your problem but this may help out.

If the information below your username is correct about the year of your car ('00), then there is a TSB on this. If your car qualifies for this, they will give you the heavy duty windshield strikers and these should be "Locktited" on. This will pull on the top more firmly and close the gap and stop the noise. If you don't qualify for the TSB, then you'll have to pay for the strikers. They don't cost that much.

TSB aren't normally warranty/recall issues, are they? Even if he does qualify for the TSB, wouldn't he normally be charged? Or was this TSB some kind of exception?

Technical Service Bulletins are meant for "irregularities" that some owners discover about their cars. Honda have these place to try and resolve these issues to keep the customer happy. TSBs, when applicable to a given car, is free of charge. Sometimes if one dealer refuses it, another one may allow it.

They have no idea what a TSB is or they do and they're just trying to make a little more money on the job than what Honda would already pay. Go to another dealer or log a complaint with Honda.

Xviper, as usual, is entirely on the ball. This was an issue I had with my 01. Quick fix by the Honda dealer when they discovered the TSB. But mine was under warranty at the time.

Maybe i wil just take it in and ask them. I willl try the tubing trick fro now. And as long as they pay for it all, it wouldn't be that bad if they messed the top up,('02 TOP!)

scubasteve - I noticed my hardtop's strikers had this "tubing" on them from the factory. Looks like a small length of rubber hose, if that helps. I can post pics if that would help you out.
