Just because the noise stops when you hit the brakes does not mean the brakes are at fault. They are only masking another problem.

No, I think I need to get that done!

I did alot of research on that and am starting to here a pop when taking off in forward and reverse.


How much would this cost to get done by chance? I could do it my self, just dont have the tools.

Billman, or any one else. I just realised how easy it should be to fix... Does any body know the size of the socket I will need to fit over the axle nut? And also what type of greese to use? Thanks!!!

36mm socket, but you also need a torque wrench that can read accurately to 221 lb/ft. Bearing or axle grease will do.

I had a similar problem wih an 89 Maxima. It turned out to be the anti-lock brake system. The 5 MPH by-pass valve had gone bad. Sometimes when I tried to stop the car, the ABS would activate when I got slow (just about to stop). The ABS parts are not cheap ($1800 for just the part that I needed). Do you have different sixe tires on your S than OEM?
