Noise when clutch up.

Noise when clutch up.
Hello,
I have an '99 AP1 S2000 with 122k on the clock. Ever since i bought it a few months ago its had a buzz then the clutch is not depressed, when i depress the clutch it goes away. This becomes apparent when driving not through noise but a vibration though the car, mainly the gear stick, if i dip the clutch whilst driving the vibration goes away.
I am assuming it is one of the many bearings in the drivetrain.
I assume its not the release bearing as its when clutch is released, so there would be little force on that. I questioned whether it would be the thrust bearing/plates? I plan to measure the crank whilst someone depresses the clutch to see if it walks/wanders. I read some threads however saying it is rare for thrust plates to go bad. Could it be the clutch pilot bearing?
I'm assuming it will be engine side as the vibration goes away when its disconnected, unless its a bearing in the transmission that is noisy under load. It sounds to me as if its coming from in front of me when i sit in the car with the door open.
What would be the best coarse of action to diagnose this?
Any help/ideas appreciated.

One, it is not clutch buzz, clutch buzz is on decelaration. Two, all s2ks have more tranny noise than your use to because the tranny is basically right in the passenger seat. Three if it is something, which it may be, it would most likely be tailshaft bearings. Really bearings going bad are just loud and noisy and will just get worse until you can't stand the noise anymore, at that point replace them, do the clutch at the same time.

Thankyou bgoetz,
Its not the noise i'm worried about, i cant even hear that much in the car, only if i hang out the door. The more worrying thing for me in the vibration coming through the car.
By tailshaft bearing do you mean? The diff end of the prop-shaft?
