Default Noise at Idle with clutch in.

I started to get a loud higher pitched whirling noise at idle, in neutral, and with the clutch depressed (disengaged). The noise will go away when I let the clutch out (engaged). There is no detectable noise off idle, accelerating or decelerating.

Thanks for your help

Throw out bearing. It's the bearing that's loaded when you step on the clutch, it's in between the pressure plate and clutch fork.

I see. Well it's been a little less than an year since replacing the clutch. Any reason to go bad before the clutch?

I do remember greasing the TO bearing during install. Maybe the grease wore off? Will it work to take out the shift fork, grease it up, and stick it back in? Or do I have to drop the trans?

Isnt a TO bearing going to give the opposite effect? When the clutch is engaged (not pressing the clutch), it should make a noise, and with the clutch disengaged (foot on clutch), it goes away because its not spinning. I'm no expert but I've done some research because I have what I think to be a bad TO bearing.

Wait, did you replace the bearing or just grease it?

The bearing is spinning when you're pressing on the clutch pedal since it's pressing against the pressure plate. If you have noise and you're not pressing on the clutch pedal that's usually your input shaft bearing in the transmission.
