I've found it that if you push on the middle bar a little bit upwards, the rattle subsides a bit.

mine does this every now and then ('03 w/ 22k mi.)
In my case it's the pass. side button that seems to rattlea little bit. I usually just reach over and wiggle the entire clamp/lock a bit and it stops.
