No VTEC at all...
Hey guys,
I took my car out a few days ago and when I full throttled the thing (I usually drive the thing like an old lady) and I had no VTEC at all. Matter of fact I can feel it bog when the VTEC should be kicking in. A friend suggested I might be low on oil, and although I doubted it I checked my oil. Turns out the oil was fine... a bit dirty though; did an oil change. Mobil 1 5W30. Car's still got no VTEC though. Next possibility?

DOH! I forgot to mention I got a check engine light. After the oil change I drove the car and since I still had no VTEC the next step I was told to take was to disconnect the battery for about a minute. I did that, the check engine light went off for a while but ended up coming back on later that night. I never got my VTEC. What I do have now is an OEM radio that flashes CODE and doesn't work. Now to search and see how the hell to fix that or get my hands on my code.

if you have a CEL you should pull the code, whoever told you to reset it is a moron! Pull the code and work from there. The radio on the other hand you will need to get the security code, some say it is located behind the radio itself, in my case it was not.

Get the cel code pull.
For your radio, check the compartment behind the armrest. Sometimes it's written on a sticker on the compartment door.
If it's not there, there's a sequence of numbers you can press on your radio to get the serial number for that radio. Then, you can call Honda to obtain your code with that serial number.

If you have the correct oil level, it could be the VTEC valve solenoid has gone out. This happened to me on an Accord.
Forgot to add that my check engine light came on when this happened. Honda fixed it for $400.00. If you find out that this is the problem, I would order the part and repair it yourself to save a few $$$
