No Vtec?
HELP!!
My 2004 S2K only revs to 6,000 RPM before a rev limiter of sorts kicks in. Even when fully warmed up, only 6K.
The car was stolen and recovered, and the VTEC solenoid was/is damaged. I assume that this is the root of the problem, although everything plugs in just fine (the switch housing was cracked, and eventually came off completely). In any case...what will one of these run me ( I only need what looks like a threaded sensor...it has a brown plastic housing).
Any thoughts? Also, what is the color order of wiring (going from Passenger side to Driver side) for the MAP sensor?
What would cause the instrument cluster to have no idiot lights: "brake" or "Needs gas" indicator light working when the entire rest of the cluster works fine? The Key symbol works fine.
Thanks

I have ordered the part...time will tell if that is the problem.

Do the lights illuminate when you turn the key? If not then the cluster may be defective (damaged Cluster ECU) or the bulbs are burnt out. If its not the cluster then check the wire harness connections to the cluster. Make sure you check the pin out connections to the harness coupler. Pins might be bent.

Isn't it also possible you're low on oil? I have heard of this happening also.
The vtec solenoid will go out over time or more common when people are running FI the higher temps will wear it out faster. There is no time that says it goes out around this point or after something happens.

but can vtec become weaker over time (assuming im not low on oil) from a bad solonoid? Or when the solonoid wears out, the vtec wouldnt kick in at all? I guess Im asking can vtec be stronger if I replaced the solonoid now since its not expensive anyways? Afterall, I do have an AP1, first year it came out. So maybe my solonoid could be better?

No it's not possible.
From what I've heard with a few people trying to switch solenoids from other civic models does absolutly nothing. The vtec solenoid can go out but will not "fade" over time.

You never know what was done to the car if it is a theft recovery.
I checked my oil level (just changed this week), and the dipstick is over half wet...that's where it is supposed to be, right??
Thanks
