Ok...gotta throw this out there, with regards to the cam timing.
The cams can both be properly lined up with each other, and the cam drive gear. BUT, if the cam drive gear is not in sync with the crank, you'll get no spark.
As many times as I've had the the cams out of the s2k, there are times where I need to stare at the marks for a minute to be sure they are right.
So now...there are two marks on the crank pulley. The WHITE mark is used to show TDC of number one piston, and to set cam timing.
The RED mark is used to check ignition timing, only when a faulty ECU is suspect. It CANNOT be used to set the cams. Please be 100% sure this is correct. There's another thread where I asked the guy like 5 times about this. All of a sudden the fifth time I bought it up the cams were finally determined to be off

THANK YOU GUYS< the timing was way off, and now everything is running perfect from what i can tell. the true test will be when i drive it out of here tmw.

i got a similar problem, i bought ap1 s2k from this one guy whose retainer cracked and dropped a valve, and my brother had a spare ap1 s2k motor, so i swapped it in, hooked up everything all plugs to all the sensors, (crank pos sensor, cam sensors are hooked up), engine is getting fuel pressure, good compression, cranks, but no spark i checked the marks on cams, then the chain gear and crank pulley, they all match, i also connected the ground in the back of the head. everything seems to be in place. but still no spark. can anyone help me please?

guess what, i just got it to start !!!! billman told me to check the cams so i decided ill take another look and guess what my intake cam was in exhaust spot so i switched them out and it started right up
