No second gear
Hey guys im new to this site so hopefully im not posting in wrong section.
Anyways i have a 2002 s2000 and one day i took off really hard of the line and powershifted into second gear and drifted around a corner and continued driving. When i tried going back into second gear later it went in really easy but when i released the clutch the car didnt move. Its been like that ever since. Theres no weird noises coming from transmission. Ive driven the car ever since. made atleast 5000 miles on it since and still no sign of any other problems. Ive worked on cars for years and never seen anything like this. It seems like the gear just moved out of the way. All other gears still shift really smooth. I did end up putting a stage 2 clutch in there with no springs before all this happened and its prolly why i ended up messing up my transmission. Any ideas of what could be wrong would greatly be appreciated.

You have all other gears? Sounds like you are going to need to break open the tranny.

Unsprung discs are good for nothing but breaking things.
You sheared all the teeth off the mainshaft (this drives second gear).
You also broke some of the teeth off second gear itself.
The pieces are sitting on the center magnet, only accessible by splitting the trans case.
Cost of these parts usually exceed the cost of a good used transmission.

Yea all the other gears work fine. Not even a single grind.if i broke the teeth wouldnt that effect other gears. Ive been driving it for a while now and not even a little sign of any problem. I wanted to know if someone had a problem like so i can order the parts i need before i open it up. It is my daily. Also when i powershifted into second gear i would know right away something broke. It would of just reved up like in neutral But i kept going all the way to 9500 rpm and shifted in 3rd gear. After i came to a stop i tried going normal from 1st to second thats when i noticed theres nothing there

Second gear drive side is the small stationery gear on the mainshaft.
It will only affect second gear.
You need a mainshaft and second gear set, guaranteed.

Yeah. Maybe my reply was a bit harsh, too simplistic.
The springs in the clutch disc absorb transient torque/energy applied when the engine/flywheel (running at higher RPMs) engages the tranny (running at much lower, near zero RPMs). Without the springs all the torque, thus energy, is applied instantly to the transmission's internal mechanisms. Large transient excess = transmission damage.
You didn't feel the final effect, until pulling out of 2nd. When the tranny parts disintegrated.
