I pesonally think that the heffler shaft is out of balance. You might want to replace the air in your tires, probably all four off them as the air can get stale which changes its molecular structure, hence making the characteristics of regulated pressure unstable. Dude maybe you need to change the air freshener??

That happened once to me last winter and I called the dealer and was bringing it over and when the car warmed up the power steering started working and the EPS light turned off. You may not have a cold weather issue in socal, but i dunno. I would let the car warmup for about 10-15 mins and see if it's still on.
