Is the amp under the hood blown as well? I know you said you replaced it correct?

If you check the Ptuning thread, SPAL has worked out the relay to prevent the power surge that the SPAL fan produces because it's pretty powerful when it kicks on.

Now, Ptuning is going to provide that relay to owners of the Ptuning kit. Have you tried calling them and asking them about this issue? You will be provided with the correct relay as soon as they can send them out to everyone for free.

Givem a call.

Any recent work done on the car? If no then there any OLD work done to the car? If so check those connections. If everything looks GOOD then put in a 10A fuse in and see if it still blows. **I know I will get flamed for this but 7.5 to a 10A will not cause wires to melt and if it still blows then you know there is likely a short in the system somewhere. Now you just need to find out where. If it doesn't blow someone might have tapped that line for power causing the extra draw through the fuse.

hmmm i;m going to try unplugging the heater fan and see if it blows, if it does i will try the 10amp fuse and see what happends. I have a feeling the mice living in the garage have something to do with this.....

tried the 10a fuse and it blew. it runs fine when the car is on the acc position but as soon as i turn the car on on it blows. maybe it could be the heater control unit causing it to blow? I'm going to unplugging that and see what happends.

Unless you ADDED a heater to the circuit(which would explain the issue) then you have a short somewhere.

I'm not so sure it's the fan in this case. It sounds like a short. Just when you turn the car on, and it blows a fuse, sounds like a short.

Have you tried to unplug the fan and then start the car?

Yup and fuse still blows with fan unplugged. Going to be a bitch to trace the short with all that wiring behind the dash, i have a feeling the fan caused one of the wires to melt so its shorting out. Spal fan FTL

I seriously doubt the fan caused any wires to melt.

Let us know what you find!
