result, nice DIY job

could you se which part had actually failed? i.e. compressor spins freely or a siezed expansion valve?

I didn't check, sorry. After the shop told me it was the compressor, I just decided to replace all three. Ignorance is bliss, because if I find out it was just the damn dryer...! I've already taken everything to the recycler, too.
