They're Iridium, don't gap them, you will knock the iridium coating off.

ignition25: The "IFR" and "BKR" prefix refers to the way the plug is built (ie. 14mm thread, 5/8inch hex, gasket seat), not to the materials used. The suffix "IX" refers to iridium.

ShocK: Iridiums can be gapped with a normal gapper. It is wise, however, to be cautious not to damage the tips.

Hope that clears a couple things up.

Yeah better off not to touch em IMO, supposedly you can knock the tip off, if your retarded maybe, seems if it was that easy to come off it couldn't stay on at all lol They're welded on so maybe theres a possibility if one isn't welded to standards the tip could be knocked loose by a gauge.

So are you suggesting that this:

and this:

http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/products/spar...ix.asp?mode=nml

are the same product?

Looks like straight up marketing. Plats already last for 50-100k. Iridium has the smaller surface area and a harder electrode, so they last even longer. Laser-welded just means that there is a minor difference in production as far as I can tell.

No. I'm not sure how you inferred that. The first one is an iridium center electrode and platinum ground electrode. The second one is iridium in both locations.

To revive an older, but informative thread, I am curious as to why the IFR8H-11 is better than the BRK8EIX? Could you tell my your reasoning?
Thanks. Shock.

i'm still confused about the iridium 7746 model...is that better than the oem 7772?

or just a publication error...since it was fixed in the 07-08 catalogue?
