i read an article awhile back but i can't find the link anymore.
honda was working on a gasoline diesel engine. an accord v6 would get around 60 mpg with no power lost and could get up to 90 mpg when couple with a hybrid system. haven't heard much about it since.

That's just a capacitor plug. They've been around since at least the 60's and every test has been a bust. The only thing they are good at is hitting your wallet.

With the right sensors and direct injection, it is possible. But reliable, is another question..
the issue with direct gasoline injection is lubrication and construction of the injectors. since gas has some pretty poor lubrication charateristics, and its combustion is faster and hotter than deisel.... building an injector for it is trickey and expensive.
