Sooooo.... i bought this car with 79,000 miles on it and the old guy told me he changed the spark plugs and did the maintenance on time. It now has around 83,000. So i thought maybe it was time for spark plugs and i ordered the ngk r model number 7772. I went and picked them up and heres what i found.....


pretty bad arent they lol.... since the change i feel that the car is a lot more responsive and lively. I think im pretty lucky i changed it when i did because it looks like the car was running extremely lean....

I wouldn't say it's running lean due to the plugs, but the center electrodes are worn out, those gaps would be pretty big due to the erosion of the center electrodes. I don't get how Honda wants people to run their plugs to 100k miles. I changed mine at 55k miles and they were at the service limit for gaps as the electrodes wore down. Smart call checking the plugs rather than relying on the previous owner's word, those plugs were likely never changed, likely the factory originals there.

Thats halfway to how mine looked at 10K miles, the "tips" of the iridiums were starting to dissapear

The NGK Iridiums I ran in my H22 looked great at 10k miles.

50,000 miles, have originals, car runs perfectly, go figure?

it's a good time to check the plugs at that mileage, to make sure the gaps are still within specs (.051" is the service limit), also helps to check that the plugs are properly torqued to spec (18 ft lbs).
