Default new to s2k, got a few problems, please help!

hello, everyone, i just wanted to say that im glad i made the choice of buying an s2000. I just traded in my 2005 evolution for it, it was an amzing car , but 32000 put a big hole in my pocket, and i needed something to lower my payments, so i got a 2000 berlina black, and i love it, the crowd is much nicer-everyone isnt just about racing you, people in other s's actually wave, instead of giving you a nsaty look and mashing the gas, and this forum is way better. anyways, im having a few problems. the car has 70k miles on it. To start off, i changed my oil, diff ,and trans fluid already, all the fluids were clean, but i just wanted the comfort of knowing it was all new. The car shifts great, no 1st to 2nd problems, and no notchyness (the evo was actually much notchier, and it was new), the mait reqd light recently turned on, and i couldnt find where the obd2 plug was so i could test and see what the problem is. im getting a clicking sound from the car also, i looked at the brakes, and they are in need of replacement in the front, so i ordered all the rotors and pads from honda already. when slowing down, i get a grinding rotor sound, but i dontg think its the rotors, because there is enought pad left where it wouldnt rub., its coming form the shift knob (tranny) (chh chh chh chh) and under slight acceleration the transmission sounds liek a whirling sound, no sounds are constant, and they fade in and out, gettign faster with increased speed, the sounds are most heard in 5th and 6th gear. it also buzzes on decel, but ive already heard of the clutch buzz tsb and im not worried about that noise. theres a clicking that happens at all speeds, but it sounds like its coming from the front of the car ( click click click) and its easily heard bon the outside of the car. im hoping its the breaks, but i hope someone has goen through this already, i did searches, but couldnt find much. another thing is when my top is up, i can hear wind noise at about 40 mph and higher, and if i pull down on the handle formt he inside, the nouise will stop. is there a way to tighten this? anyone who can help please do. thanks! sorry for the long post

Make sure you used all the correct fluids.

Engine oil - "10w-30" full syn preferably
Transmission- "Honda MTF"
Differential - Mobil 1 "75w-90 Gear Lube" <--- not 100% sure

i have the same wind noise, there are 2 adjustment stops near the top back corners of the doors you can adjust but it won't help much. some say you can put in the hard top striker plates to fix the wind noise. i just learn to live with it and always drive with the top down

as far as the MIL, do you mean maitainence required light or malfunction indicator lamp? if the former, turn car off, hold down trip button on dash, turn on car while continung to hold down button for 5 seconds and light will go off. if its the latter, the 00-01 have the OBD2 port next to the passanger knee rest (plasting thing next to the radio) and 02+ its above the driver knee rest.

when i put in the new "hardtop strikers" as they are called, the wind noise was 90% eliminated.

The reason i say "hardtop strikers" is because i actually ordered new strikers for the softop, but there is a new part number which corresponds to some design changes as well as possibly some material change.

And yes they are the same as those shown in pics claiming to be hardtop strikers.

yes, of course i changed all the fluids with the right kind. i used honda mtf, mobil 1 75w 90 gear oil for the diff, and mobil 1 syn, for the motor. ill be doing the brakes next week sometime (whenever the parts come in) but these noises really are pissing me off, especially when the top is up (which i rarely do, unless its cold or rainy out) , thanks for the info on the strikers, ill look into it. thanks for the posts, keep them coming on those noises i'm hearing. if you need more info just ask. thanks again, you guys are awesome.

This light is telling you that it is time to perform maintainance. It has nothing to the obd2 plug. With the ignition turned off, press in the trip distance button and hold in while you turn on the ignition and keep it pressed in for 2 second's and the maintainance light will go off.

im getting a clicking sound from the car also
This is caused by the axle's. Grease the axle's where they contact the hub and nut, replace the nut's and re-torque them to 220 ft lbs
