Default new rotors/pads

I just installed project mu rotors and type ns pads and noticed my brake pedal feels stiffer and seems like the pedal travel has decreased...is this normal? It feels like pressing the brake when my car is off...kinda stiff. By the way, I'm still using my stock calipers...thanks.

Normally pedal feel has more to do with the fluid than the pads (and nothing to do with the rotors). Did you bleed the brakes when you worked on them?

But you can perhaps be confusing pedal feel with "bite", the coefficient of friction of the pads. The higher the bite, the more responsive the brakes feel because it takes less pressure to get the same deceleration. However, it can also make them feel touchy and nervous if you aren't used to smoothly modulating your brake pressure.

It's probably because you have both new rotors and pads, both of which probably aren't bedded in as yet. You have less friction than your old brakes so you are pressing the pedal harder to stop (hence the sensation of a harder pedal). Until they are bedded properly your stopping distance is compromised (just like with a brand new car).
