It takes 18 hp to carry a mustang at 55 under normal wind conditions...

The s2000 definitely makes enough at 2.5k

The rsx makes enough at 2.2K to go 60

thats the theoretical amount of power that it would take to keep a mustang going at 60. It makes much more at 60 for the same reason as the honda has a short 6th.

my point was that it doesn't take that much to make a car go 60 on flat road with normal weather conditions. Obviously making 18 would not be so beneficial since the car would just drown in air at such small rpms, but i dont see a reason why doing 2.3-2.5k at 65 is unreasonable given that you are willing to downshift to pass or change lanes....

So where does one find an overdrive 6th gear and how would you go about dropping it in?

I think
1. The motor will be a lot quieter
2. More top end
3. There is a chance of improved MPG

2.2L motor should be getting around 34-35mpg with a 2800lbs car.

Try cruising somewhere at 90-100mph and being at 5-6K it's insanity.

Anything over 75 became so loud it's requires ear plugs.

I hope you live in Montana or Germany. I can't really imagine where you would legally cruise at 90-100mph

If anything I always thought the high rpms at those speeds HELPED TO PREVENT me from speeding.

Then again I did travel at 90-100mph for an hour once, sounded like I was in a WWII fighter plane, and then I got pulled over, lol

there is no one that makes a taller 6th. The one suggestion that i made is to try to look for a 6th gear from a milder honda that fits with little or no modification. It possible because these parts are always made to be as interchangeable as they can. Doing this however you would waste a lot of time, possibly money, and still arrive at no result.

if you have bottomless pockets you could get someone to make you a custom one...
