I called PRM today and spoke with someone who said the Silicone piece should be available around Springtime. I will be getting one then.

There's nothing wrong with the standard pipe...I wrapped mine with insulation tape and though it doesn't look as trick it fookin' works at preventing the air from being heated by the standard PRM pipe.

ok....i have a question....every time i try to get that silicone ring around the horn, it falls off....i cant get it to stay on.. what are you guys using, and how do you get it to stay on?

I cant stand that edge on the aluminum horn...looks hideous, and mine got a little banged up during install!

I ditched mine, but imagine that if you rubbed a small amount of rubber cement or gorilla glue or some other adhesive around the lip it'd stick forever.

Russ, I have the PRM and really like it. Easy install, noticeable pick up and great sound. In your discussions with the PRM guy did you guys decide if there would be any appreciable performance improvement? I understand the theory of the silicon tube being a better insulator, but will it really make any difference?

I wouldn't think there would be much improvement because the air simply doesn't stay in that tube for very long to be that adversely affected by higher temps. Think of passing your finger through a candle flame. Now hold it there. Same theory. Whatever temps the silicone might reduce would probably have a minimal affect on horsepower, 1-2 at most. I have wrapped my intake in several assorted ways and didn't notice any increase in performance.

What he said ^

A bit of tube is not going to make any difference to this noise making warm air intake.
