New owner shifting question
Hello I recently purchased a 2007 S2000 with 11 miles on it, straight from the showroom floor. I traded in my junky mustang because is shifted so horrible and was real knotchy from 2nd to 3rd.
I thought I would be in shifting heaven, however the car has about 450 miles on it and I feel the too familar mustang knotch when shifting into 3rd. I thought maybe it just me and the way I shift so I let a coworker take it out and he felt the knotch too. He said that he didnt really feel it when he didnt press the clutch all the way in though. I always full depress the clutch though.
We then took his 350z out and I shifted the way I always do and felt no knotch at all when shifting into 3rd. It was perfect.
So the question is I guess, is this normal for the S2000? Do I really have to granny it into 3rd to not feel a knotch? Does it take it a little while to break in maybe? Do I need to really get into the rpm range before upshit to 3rd?Or worse could the trans be screwed already with only 450 miles on it?
Please help!
Also sry for post in wrong part of forum so this is also in general.

what RPM are you shifting at ?...
I just got my 01 AP1 last week and noticed that it shifts very smooth above 3500 RPM.... and you must be sure to depress the pedal completely too...
Try to move your seat forward to ensure that you are depressing the pedal 100%...
Hope this helps.. .

I don't know if this is gonna help but.. back when I had my EP3, before the car warmed up the shifter would feel notchy. Most of the time is fine, but it also had worn out synchros, you could hear it grind when you shift at low rpm's (very little though). Since my shifter was kinda loose I've missed 2nd a few times. After it grinded a bit, I felt 3rd was much harder to put into. One time I was just going mad on it and on the fifth run missed 3rd and it grinded REALLY bad I couldn't put it into 4th at all, a few days later it would go in but very hard, a week later it was "fine" (the day I took it to the dealer to tell me it was fine.. I heard of someone with an RSX-S tell me the same exact story) also the tranny felt stubborn in cold temperatures.
Just thought I would share, maybe it's because of the front wheel drive layout on the EP3. As far as my AP2, no problems at all.
