It's important with this car, because on AP1s there is no usable low oil light. If the oil light comes on, it's too late and you're already F'd.

dont wait that long. oil does have a shelf life. but if you daily drive your car or put a decent amount of mileage then you have nothing to worry about. store in a dry and cool location
Shelf life of at least 5 years. I would think the OP would be changing his oil before that but I guess that is an assumption on my part. If it sat for a year or more, I think I would shake it up a bit before use.
where did you get that number from? an opened plastic container in a damp area would not do well i think. i could be wrong. hopefully Spitfire or one of the many knowledgeable persons here can chime in. personally i do not leave used oil on my shelves. and i keep them in a cabinet with a dehumidifier around. thats just me.

I'm pretty sure he has the cap on the jug. I'm SURE it will be fine. It ain't brake fluid, and even that can be kept for quite some time after opening as long as the can is kept sealed.

I posted up a while back about some MTF that is at least 5 years old, still sealed, but that isn't different than being closed in oil world. I was told it would be fine almost indefinitely.

The problem is walmart was out of 1qt. So I had to buy two 5qt jugs. The oil is in the garage. Maybe I'll move it to my room keep it in the closet or something

Be sure to open/close oil container in a sterile environment so that THALASSOLITUUS OLEIVORANS doesn't colonize.

I do oil changes in a super clean room that doubles as my silicon wafer fabrication area.
