Hi everyone,

I just bought an '03 S2000 and I just notice there is a humming sound like an old neon light coming from the passenger side of the engine bay (where the stock intake box is, I have an cold air intake).


I did a search on this forum and people said its normal for S2000. I just want to double check on this issue.

Does the hum change when you change the rpm slightly? If so, then it's most likely intake noise.

I just when out to my car and check for the noise and it is not there. It seem like the weird noise happen after the car is driven.

The sound did not get louder when I tried to apply on the gas.

It's either your intake like xviper said, or its the hid's when you first turn them on.

just pop the clips off the intake box cover and remove, you'll hear it loud and clear. it goes away at anything a bit above idle.

then take car for a ride with the cover off and listen to intake sound when you hit vtec.

He has a CAI, which would most likely accentuate the intake "whistle".
