Road Rage, is this Motorcraft non-synthetic?

If it is, wouldn't it be better to stick with Amsoil since Amsoil is synthetic?

yeah I also run amsoil 10w-30, but Im scared to leave it in that long. I have tried in the past to leave oil in for as long as the factory recommends.. and I just cant do it. I hate to see black paint draining out of a car or truck I paid so much for. my s2k's oil will get dark at about 2k, and at 3k it comes out.
You really need to do some research on oil. You're changing out and wasting a perfectly fine synthetic at 3,000 miles.

Silly Rabbit, read the oil journals!

To be fair, the Motorcraft is not a true synthetic, but rather a hydrocracked dino oil. Some manufacturers are labeling these as synthetics, even though they have a conventional base.

RoadRage is simply saying that if one was to go with a mineral oil (conventional dino), that this is a good choice to go with.

If you are using Amsoil, by all means keep using it. It is one of the best synthetic motor oils on the market... this Motorcraft stuff is just another alternative for those deciding between Castrol GTX, Valvoline, Honda (Mobil DriveClean), etc... but since you are using a synthetic, no reason for you to digress in lubrication technology.

Black is good, it means its absorbing carbon and other impurities, among other things... this is what you want it to do.

Amsoil is one of those extended life type of oils where you can go longer between oil change intervals. You can go at least twice as long between oil changes... don't change simply because it is black...

oakfloor- you need to get an oil analysis done to see if your oil really needed to be changed. You really can't tell just by looking at the colour!
