new motor!1300 miles

Default new motor!1300 miles

Hi just a quick Q,i have just covered 1350 miles and,i havea track day booked on saturday,ddoes anybody think i should change the oil,if so what should i use min,or synth ? ? ? cheers Burnie.

Use conventional oil for at least the first 10,000 miles.

Is this a rebuilt engine? If so, then yes change your oil right before the track. If this is the original engine for your car and it only has 13xx miles then no keep the break-in oil in there.

Its the first engine Cheers so then i DO NOT NEED TO CHAGE OIL.!!

I dont think you need to wait 10,000 miles until synthetic though.

Ahh, so it takes that long for the rings to fully seat?? I dont think synthetic is needed anyway.

You can go to synthetic earlier, it just may delay the break-in process. I went to synthetic at 3,500 miles. Car is fine, never burned any measureable amount of oil.

As for the thread starter, just check your oil level often during the first 5,000 miles. Many S2000 do have an oil consumption problem. But, definitely don't change it yet.
