Default New metal taping sound ahhh!

So hears the scoop 2001 s2k 66900 on the odo 4k sence the last oil change mobile 1 and I was taking part in some high speed fun tonight. Long story short, after this on the way home I started hearing a ticking I have a vid up now to show and hear the sound. You can really start to hear what I am talking about 30 or so seconds in. I plan to drain oil tomorrow and cut the filter down to inspect. The check engine light is on from the cat mod and yes I just checked the code now still the cat but the sound is 100% internal motor. Does not make a difference if it is in neutral or driving same problem can't hear it tell 2300 rpm or so and only under a load and idle at 3000 rpm above that if you spike it to 5000 or any thing above 3900 and are off the gas the sound is gone ..... Pleas help!!! I am planing a compression test tomorrow before the oil change..... Thanks to all the good help from this forum !!!

Is it a 'card in the bike spoke' type sound? If so it can be bent valves due to low oil. If you VTEC often, you can lose a fair amount of oil. Whens the last time you checked your oil?

I would like to say valve but the sound does not seem to be the same timing interval every time and there is no power loss that I can feel ... The oil was just a bit low.. Not too bad checked it about three weeks back.

Doesn't sound like valves, because if it were the valves it would be depended on rev's which your sound is not...it kind of sounds like a heat shield rattle since its so high pitched. Have you popped the hood and rev'd the car to determine here it is coming from?

Card in the spokes noise is not a valve.

Valves do not bend from low oil. Where do you get your info from????

Vid link is not working.

Video is up and working good as far as I can see now. Just ignore the sound that's louder at the first part of the video that's because under the stick shift boot the white plastic retainer ring is broken and not sealing good letting some air get by the trans tunnel and it has always had a small wine like that. The new sound is much more scary and alarming.

The sound that I am trying to pin point is at 56 seconds in on acceleration only then it goes away when I let off. and when I pop the hood I hear it just the same almost louder at 3000 rpm ........ I will post another video today. Thanks so far!!

Video doesn't work.

Also Valves don't bend from low oil. False information.
