all I know is, I just replaced the MTF on my stook. It's an 04 w/ 10,500 miles. I don't know if it had been changed before. I put in Royal Purple SynchroMax MTF. Holy crap it shifts so much smoother now when cold! I love it, and I've only put about 4 miles on the car since replacing that oil.
So yeah, this has nothing to do with Honda's new OEM stuff

I just put in the new Honda fluid. Slight difference from what was in there before in terms of being smoother when cold. I don't know what was in there before or for how long though, so some of it may just be that it needed new fluid anyway.
Very easy to change, especially after reading through XVipers write up (same with the diff fluid, though thats a little tougher because of fill bolt space constraints)
