New front alignment with leakng damper, Waste?
I went in for a 4 wheel alignment today and the shop told me that one of my front damper is starting to leak.
I told them to only align the rear for now.
My car has 75000 miles on it and I replaced all 4 dampers at 50000 miles. I'd like to save up money and get KW V3 before I go through the whole trouble of replacing the dampers again.
Now, If I were to get a front alignment now, will it be a waste of money since the geomentry will change and the alignment will be out of spec within weeks.
I only ask because the steering wheel is off center right now and it's going to bug me if I have to live with it for next couple of months.

Wasting $$. Not to mention the leaking shock doesn't effect the alignment. The springs support the weight of the car, not the shock.
To do a "rear only" alignment, your doing the same set up work as a 4 wheel just not changing anything on the front.
The term "pissing up a rope" comes to mind.

Well, it's really impossible to tell. The dampers are charged with gas. This gas does have an effect although a small one on the ride height of the car. If your shock has no charge left (you should be able to feel this) then it would indeed be a waste of money. Odds are though, that your shock is not really that dead and is probably not even entering the equation.
If it was me, I would have done the complete alignment.
Did you even look to see how bad the leak was? I bet it was minor. I've seen small amounts of leakage on tons of shocks.
