If anything, you'd want to add to the stock one to increase rad pressure, which would be one reason I guess. There's not much point in buying a less effective plate to replace what is well-designed stock.

Thx Saki, this thread confirmed what I had a hunch was true.

With that in mind, I'm trying to route a "cold air snorkel" through the middle of the stock air guides to the opening of the intake (where there is already some space). I don't even want to seal it into the intake though, because I don't want to impede the max quantity of air available to the intake box under WOT. I just want some cooler air blowing into the box. Even then, I suppose there is the possibility of creating unwanted turbulence and messing with the air "pulse." So much to consider. I already have the K&N filter installed, and with the stock box, stock air guides, etc. all still in place, I would think that colder air blowing into the inlet, combined with the lower resistance filter, could only improve things.... ??? I think the challenge in modifying the s2k is to retain all the goodness of stock while adding minor improvements. Change too much and you might not come out ahead.
