Default New clutch replacement - vibration

I just recently got my clutch replaced with a Competition Stage 2 clutch kit with an ap1 flywheel.

I know there's a 500 miles break in period. I've been easy on it daily driving. I noticed for 1st gear, when I'm at a complete stop going forward. The car vibrates hard while I'm engaging the clutch to go forward. Sometimes it does to second gear as well.

I test drove the car on Friday right after it was done from the shop. The mechanic said it's normal because it's not an OEM replacement clutch. He then said I have to rev a little higher than normal. I don't understand this at all.

Any suggestions?

The clutch is chattering, might be normal for your clutch. I have the SOS street clutch and it chatters when I'm trying to go slow in first gear and slipping the clutch for more than 2 seconds. No chatter when taking off normally though.

Will it go away?

I hope it goes away but chatter is different than vibration.

On supras the trannies chatter really bad, but there is little to no vibration. I had a really bad vibratioon and blew up a flywheel (went thru the bell housing) but it was not on a S

Depends on the clutch. I had an act on my old prelude, and it chattered a little during break in and went away. I have about 2k miles on my SOS now and its still there so I don't think it'll go away.

Do you think it's the clutch? I also got an ap1 fly wheel put in since it's lighter then the ap2's. I've gotten it resurfaced as well.

i was thinking of getting the competition clutch with the 11.5 flywheel...if it chatters then I might have to look at something else.

Can you post a video of the noise?

you did installed new throwout bearing and pilot bearings?

It's probably a combination of the lightweight flywheel, friction of the clutch disk and how strong the pressure plate is grabbing.

the clutch shouldn't vibrate at all...if its vibrating hard when you engage where you notice it, then something is wrong?

in the supra, with a lightweight flywheel, it would chatter. It would not vibrate.

I'm planning on getting a 11.5 lb flywheel for the S and sure hope it doesn't chatter or vibrate so let us know.

another thing you can do is open the clutch inspection cover and see if anything looks out of the norm.
