Default new clutch recommendations

Hi my car has 112k miles on it and I think it needs a new clutch. After alot of research I think the competion clutch stage 3 would be able to hold up to some abuse. My car is mostly stock right now so I dont really need a stronger clutch just something extremely durable. So will a stage 3 ceramic disk be a pain for a daily driver? Should I get the stage 2 or the ACT hdss kit or all oem parts?

That clutch will be awful for a DD. DD's work well with full faced street clutches and relatively light pedal feels. It likely won't be able to take abuse as well as a Honda genuine clutch.

What research did you do that showed that the stock clutch was inadequate and/or that the competition clutch was more durable?

Edit: is the hub on that competition clutch unsprung? Is that why someone would say it's more durable than stock?

Well I guess I was just thinkin that the ceramic material wouldnt get glazed like the oem organic material and maybe last longer? Think I should just stick with oem? And no it was a sprung hub I just thought ceramic would be tougher. Im kinda new to clutch stuff so forgive me if I sound stupid

Lol no, I wasn't trying to say you sound stupid. I was just surprised that you would have found that.

The Honda clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, release bearing guide, pilot bearing, and ht urea grease are what you'll want to order from Honda. Figure like $600ish from a honda parts website like bernardiparts.com

Aftermarket clutches usually have hub spring breakages/issues. For street driving, a ceramic disc likely wont last too long. Race clutches are better for dedicated track use. But will wear prematurely on the street. Plus you also risk engine thrust bearing wear with the increased pressure plate spring force.

Get an AP1 flywheel, OEM clutch disc and ACT HD pressure plate (and of course OEM for the rest of the stuff while you are down there). Probably the best street setup that will last a long while. If you are anywhere near Tennessee, I would recommend you get Jordan to do it all for you! Top notch mechanic with intimate knowledge of the S2K. If you are near NY, of course get Billman if you can.

For a stock car a Oem clutch can last a good 10yrs/100,000 miles with no problem, and that's with some abuse.

I have similar questions, as my clutch is on its way out at 91K miles. If I go all OEM, what is the difference with an ACT pressure plate vs OEM?
