What would be a fair price for a master cylinder and clutch replacement from the dealer? I want to talk to the service advisor and bring the price down.

1. Can you spell ................. R.....A.....P.....E ???
2. That clutch is not only gold plated but has spots of Platinum all over it and Tinker Bell lives in one of the springs.
3. How do you even know that the car needs a new clutch? (Because the service adviser told you so?)
4. Your dealer service dept. needs to prop up sales before year end. Looking for S2000 owners with "SUCKER" tattooed all over forehead.
5. When you know nothing about cars and you must ask a shop to "check" something, ask at several shops.
6. Ask for help. Found help. Ignore help. Open wallet, drop pants, close eyes, have proctologist's phone number on speed dial. It's gonna hurt ........ and not just for a little while.

1. Get in car.

2. Take road trip to NY.

3. Drop car with Billman for an honest inspection.

4. Find out what's actually wrong and get it fixed for a reasonable price.

5. Drive home happy and much less poor than a stealership customer.

Assuming that is the issue, it would be a part at your dealer's price, plus their labor rate, so I'd guess ~$200 for the CMC and $160 for labor, so $400 or so. Keep in mind, its a part you can buy for around $100, and you can replace in an hour.

I would not go back to any dealership that treated me like this. At the very least, find a good independent shop to do the work.

I would try a bleed first.cheapest thing to do.

Hell for 2700 I think the PP should be signed by Bill Cosby.

Fair? No.
Accurate dealership price? Maybe a little high but yes

I was quoted $1800 for a clutch alone on my S
Acura quoted me $2200 for a clutch in my RSX

They call them stealerships for a reason

Yep, and they wanted $2,500 to upgrade my retainers. Got it done by a specialist shop for 1/4 that price. Of course Honda takes the head off the block to do it...wasted.

The S2k is fairly simple. Folks should research and fix what they can on their own and pay to have stuff done that they can't (or don't want to) do. For me...I could replace the clutch on my own but make enough $ to not want to. I would just pay someone else for that trouble.
