Default New to the arena

Hello all,

After six long years of waiting, My wife upon hearing i was leaving for Iraq in three weeks finally let me purchase an S. Turned thirty this year and still learning some things are so much sweeter when you have to wait. Any how, I was referred to this site for technical info. I was a previous EK9 (00si) owner and the folks over at Clubsi.com eagerly referred me here. Anyhow, I do have a question about my particular car. I purchased my 02 with 18k on it certified. The dealer has agreed to fix this and I have an appointment on monday, but i wanted a little opinion on what it could be before i get there. The alignment is perfect. Under any acceleration, ie. light, moderate, hard. the car pulls right. the tires are reading 32psi on all four corners at the break of dawn. Brand new Michelin Pilots. the pull is directly proportional to the rate of acceleration and can be felt in the steering wheel. I was thinking motor mounts. I am truly a fwd Honda guy so this rwd honda stuff is new to me. Any input would be appreciated and thanks in advance. Love the site.

How do you know the alignment is perfect?

Pulling is typically caused by:

1. Alignment

2. improper tire pressure(s)

3. Defective tire
This alingment is spot on, i saw the sheet and then did one better, i aligned it myself. As a Prior ase Honda technician from the nineties, I am quite handy on the hunter rack.

If its not your alignment you probably got a bumb tire. While you were under there did you see any frame damage? Bent shock?

Worse case your S may have been in a wreck at some point in its life. Carfax is worthless in that reguards, my 2002 Eclipse was in 2 accidents, my sisters car in 3 (major 6k+ two times) and neither was reported on carfax.

Although you said the tires are all at 32psi, every time this has happened to somebody it's been tires. Either one tire is more worn than the other, or a different size, or the pressures really are different. Double-check, is all I can suggest.

Make sure you have the correct wheel and tires mounted on the front and rear. Sometimes when tires get replaced, they do not always re-mount the correct wheels on the correct places. The S2000 has a different sized wheel for front and rear (and the tires are also different sizes front to rear). Your handling will suffer if the wheels/tires are not correct. Good luck, and enjoy your S2000.

The Michelin Pilot (Sport?) in Europe are a-symatrical and only go on 1 way.
If thats the same in the US you could check that.
There are markings on the sidewall to indicate the outside.
Let us know what you find
