Default Neutral to 1st gear sound

I just got my car so I don't know if this is normal or not. When I'm in neutral and I press in clutch and shift to first I get this type of "clunk" sensation. But say I still have my foot on the clutch and I go back to neutral and then back to first I don't get the sensation. Is something wrong with my car?

This is normal. My guess is that the input shaft is spinning, causing the "clunking sensation" when selecting first gear. Push the clutch pedal in twice, wait 2-3 seconds and then select the gear you want. You could also start the car in gear.

The reason why it doesn't clunk the second time, is cause the input shaft has stopped, or slowed down. My car has done this a small handfull of times, but there is nothing wrong with your car.

The noise comes from the transmission.
