Let me throw some numbers out for you. Keep in mind that I am making no mention of the possibility that too big a wheel/tire diameter may cause rubbing, especially if the car is lowered.
The stock pre-'04 rear tire size is 225/50/16.
The '04 rear tire size is 245/45/17.
These two have about the same wheel/tire diameter and as such, Honda didn't have to change anything with regards to speedo error. (The following number are theoretical and guesstimates only.) Now, if you were to go from a 16" wheel to a 17" wheel, you would have to perhaps go to a 50 or 55 aspect ratio to gain some diameter in order to affect the final drive ratio. If you were to go from 16" to 18", to keep the same final drive (same speedo error), you would have something like a 245/40/18 (maybe even 245/35/18). You may have to get a tire with a 45 or 50 aspect ratio to affect a change in final drive.
You see where I'm going with this. You need to get a tire that will increase the overall diameter by 1" just to get a 4% change in final drive. And you must also remember that as the tire wears, your calculated final drive will also change.
