Need to replace drive belt, fairly easy?
Hey guys, this is probably a fairly easy job, but not having it done myself personally, i'm a little bit intimidated... (i'm talkin about hte belt you see infront of the engine when facing the front of the car)... What tools do i need to get this done, and how much does it cost to replace the drive belt... I'll b calling around to see how much it cost (honda, autozone, etc)... ANyways, thanks for any replies.. and i know some of you will say you dont really need to, well in my case i do, my belt dont look too good... i'd rather do it now while the car is still running than wait later when the car gets stuck..

You can do this yourself pretty easily. Find the belt tensioner. In the middle you will see a nut. Put a socket on a large rachet and apply force in the direction that will loosen the belt from the tensioner. Make sure you memorize the route the belt takes (you should also have a diagram stuck under the hood someplace). When the tensioner has slacked off the belt, remove the belt and put the new one on.
A service tech should be able to do this in 5 minutes or less but they'll most likely charge you for an hour's labour.

Yea i was going to do it myself, I'll take a snap shot of the belt before i do it so i know where the belts go exactly.... you know how much it cost? is there like a preset tightness for that belt tensioner? Because i dont want to set it too tight, or too loose.. Thanks again x!

Belts are almost always cheap, at least for cars I'm familiar with working on (domestics). I'd expect it to be $20 give or take. Could be as cheap as $5-10. The tensioner should set the correct tension on it's own, you just have to back it off to remove the old belt and then "drop" it on to the new belt to tension it. It's basically foolproof as long as you get the belt routing right.

The tensioner is #3 in the picture and it's the highest pulley on the front of the engine.
A honda belt is quite expensive:

I was thinking of napa.... Honda just seems to be a tad bit xpensive on all their parts.. Just did the brakes and i just realized i could've saved alot of money if i used brake pads from your regular auto parts store .. oh well.. Thanks for the help guys =)
