Need help- weird issues starting car-possibly battery related.
Hello Everyone,
I'm in serious need of some assistance. Yesterday, I began having a weird problem where my s2k will not start without a jump. THis shouldn't be due to an old battery because I just replaced the battery six months ago.
WHat happens is this. If I put the key in the ignition, all the interior electrical devices (radio, dash etc) come on. If I try and hit the start button to start the enging, everything goes dead- the starter doesn't turn and its like I blew a fuse. This is where it gets weird. If I slam my door hard, I get my power back. If I try and start my car again, the car dies. If I slam my door again, I get power back and can do small things like raise and lower the windows, but if I turn on the lights or try and start the car, it dies.
Now, if I get a jump, my car starts like theres no problem and it drives great. If I turn the car off, I get stuck with the above problem. Do you guys have any suggestions as to what this may be? Thanks a million in advance for any help you can lend!

Try taking the terminals off the battery, and cleaning the terminals & posts with a wire brush or steel wool. Then replace them, making sure they are on securely. The conditions you describe sound like a bad connection somewhere, and the battery is the most likely place.

Thanks fperra and slalom for the tips! Before I got a new battery, I followed what you said slalom and cleaned the terminals and then re-tightened the terminals. I got in the car and it started like new! So everything works great again- thanks a million for your help! I had no idea that the battery/starter connection was so touchy. The terminals were touching, but I guess just a little interference really impacts its usability. Thanks again for the help!!
