Default Need help w/ vtec, quick question

The vtec in my 2003 is not working. after 6 rpm in 1st gear it gets really jerky and it doesnt have the same vtec boost. in 2-4 I can't even notice it like I used to (2nd is a bit jerky too). It's not the same at all. Recently needed a battery change. The red oil can comes on usually when I come to a fast stop or even when I go into neutral. tranny fluid?

Could be a lot of things. The oil lamp means that oil pressure is low.

Check your oil level. Could also be any number of components in the lubrication system, since oil is a key component in making VTEC work.

I'd go easy on the accelerator until you diagnose this.

vtec works off of oil pressure and usually by the time the little oil can your talking about flashes on the dash the damage is usually already done.

The lamp could also just mean the oil pressure sensor is faulty.

How's your engine's oil level?

VTEC cutting out and oil level warning light coming on?

I'm guessing you're about 3 quarts low.

oil pressure switches rarely go out, but its still possible.

if your light is coming on that means your under 6psi for your pressure, and by that time damage has already occurred.

i think either you have a serious leak somewhere thus your oil light coming on, or your very very low on oil.

Red oil light on = bad

Go pull the dipstick and see if any oil is even touching it, most likely it's not. Then add oil until the oil is at the top "X" of the dipstick.
