The pictures won't come through on my machine for some reason, but pitting in the squish area of the head is often caused by detonation. If bad enough, the pits can cause hot spots, which cause more detonation. The ECU will pull the spark back when it senses a problem, but it only goes so far. If the problem is bad enough, it will still detonate. If they are small and shallow then polish off the sharp edges. Don't go crazy. You want the squish clearance to stay tight (~1mm clearance at TDC) or you loose the advantage of squish.

Thanks! I'm going to gently polish it down to minimize the effect. They're pretty smooth already, I think I can polish it a bit more before installing.

That cylinder head had a valve broken and the chamber damaged. I hope they checked the guides for cracking.

All of the guides for the head were replaced. In your option, would you install this head?

Install the head. The pits are old damage and provided there are no sharp edges will not impact performance.
