i just installed a new exhuast and i'm feeling a lost in the throttle response.....i believe its the new exhuast....can anyone tell me the proper way to reset the ECU.....

Unplug your battery +ve terminal for 10 min or so.

Resetting the ECU/Check Engine Light


Put the key in and turn to on and then turn to off, leave the key in.

Locate the fusebox - its above your left foot if you are sitting in your S2000.

Locate the fuse - right side of panel, 2nd fuse from top (3rd slot from top). It's the 7.5A fuse that's right between a 15A and a 7.5A. Its marked "Back Up".

Locate fuse pulling tool - its stored about 4 inches to the left nestled in a group of relays.

Pull out the fuse with the removal tool (if necessary), count to ten and stick it back in (key off).

After removal wait for 10-15 seconds.

Put the fuse back the right way, not upside down otherwise it will not work.

Turn the key and start the engine and that should take care of the check engine light and resetting of the ecu.


If you reset the engine light and it returns, then there can be something wrong with your car. Resetting the light, as described above, is a troubleshooting tip to see if it is merely a glitch in the ECU or perhaps some modification that tripped it off and needs to be reset.

i remember somthing about pulling the radio fuse and starting the car and shut it off.....do u guys recall....??
and wat u think of that...??

Doesn't ring a bell.

I can't see how pulling the radio fuse would help w/ the ECU- I'm sure they are wired separately.

Give them all a try and let us know.

u know wat....i might have lost of throttle reponse....but my six gear going form 55 and up pulls really nice....
also i was wondering...any disadvantage if resetting the ECU...??

I can't see where the ECU light would affect your throttle resonse- not totally clear on how having this light on will notify computer of certain things. Are you still able to go into VTEC??

If you reset light and it does come back on then you do have something that needs to be checked- but from what I have heard it will also often not let the VTEC kick in if there is a true problem- any other knowledge out there on this one. I am only going from a couple of experiences with other cars.

wat ECU light are u talking about....?
lemme be more detailed......
i had the HKS Hypers on ......i changed it to the Race Medalion from Tanabe.....i believe the RM has lots of air flow and very little
back pressure...and is causing the lack or throttle response....
i thouhg resetting the ECU might help.....
wat do u guys think......any idea would help me much...
