just did a compression test. it won't hold long enough to get a reading. either the kit i borrow is broken or its time to buy a new motor.... =(

which cylinder(s)? and who built the motor? they did something wrong.....zero compression could mean a number of things.

you might be getting dtc p0108 because you have no intake connected.

Hi Typewx,

Ok from my experience this could be 2 things:

1. Valve clearance issue (You said before that you had the head resurface? if too much has been taken off valves will be touching)

What to do:
Do a compression test on all 4 cylinders if they read low its definitely bent the valves causing it to turn off on you cause there is not enough compression for the motor to keep running.

OR If someone has built or tamperd with the block a rod bolt might of not been torqued down properly this could be another possibility for the valve clearance issue.

2. Bottom end knock either a rod bearing or main bearing has given way. (most likely a rod bearing).

What to do:
Hook up an oil pressure gauge and see what it reads if it too low then its mostly likely bearing failure. you could also drain the oil dip your fingers in there and grind your fingers together to see if there are metal particles you can see or feel.

Hope this helps you and good luck.

first of all I like to THANK all that have replied. I had a friend from skunk2 that came over to take a look at the motor. he said it's definitely coming from the bottom end. he told us to take out the tranny and see if everything is OK with the flywheel area. we did that today and found out the reason.
