1st, I would check to see if the pins inside the connector make good/tight contact. I don't have a manual with me but, prob there is a voltage check at a ref. wire or something. If not, then prob swap out the sensor with another "known good one" and go from there. Borrow someone's if you can..... hope this can help.

Two things come to mind.. first a test of the sensor, and second the compatibility with the Toda cams.. could material or profile differences prevent the sensor from working as designed?

This code can occur if the cams are not in time properly, but I don't think that is your problem. The pcm gets in an argument over where the cams are. The resistance spec for the sensor is 1850-2450kohms. TDC 1 is on the drivers side of the valve cover. If you would really like to check the sensor. Since this started 500 miles after the cams/head install, I would assume that the cams are installed properly. My question is, Did you have to swap the reluctor wheels off the original cams to the Todas? Or did the Toda cams allready have them? I would pull the valve cover off and inspect the reluctors first, Make sure they are not bent, loose etc. Pretty much what Gerby said.

Good info from Gernby and Slows. Apparently, there is a malfunction sensed from Top Dead Center of the number 1 piston. Typically, the initial cam timing is indexed from the "number one" piston on multi-cylinder engines. Slows2k gives some excellent advice about where to go from here.
