The bearings you need will depend on how much (if any) the crank main journals need to be machined to clean up any possible scarring that occurred when the bearing(s) were destroyed. Even if you can't see scarring, you can probably feel it with your fingernail.

The difference between the bearing cap ID and the crank journal OD is the gross clearance. To get the proper net clearance, you need to find the right bearing thickness from Honda's chart. The color codes you mentioned refer to this bearing thickness. Just take the engine to a good machine shop and let them handle it. It's not a job for the layman.

I bought a used motor that has no scoring at all, but i am rebuilding it with new bearings and rings. I just have never heard of a yellow/green or green/brown bearings.

when you buy 'a' bearing, as in a single part from the dealer, you actually receive one bearing, not 'both halves'. So for a rod/crank that calls for 'Green', you need to order TWO green bearings, as each one is a half of the circle around the rod/crank.

So if you need "green" for a rod, you would buy 2 green bearings for that rod. If you need yellow/green, you would buy 1 yellow and 1 green. Green/brown = 1 green, 1 brown.

ok, i know about the it being 2 bearings and everything. I have never dealt with 2 colors on a single journal before though.
So basically if it says yellow/green ill need to get the top bearing yellow and the bottom green??? Are you allowed to mix 2 different colors in a journal???

Yes, you can mix bearing colors within one journal. It also does not matter which color is on 'top'.
