I needed a new master cylinder to fix this when it happened to me. The pedal eventually just went to the floor with no resistance and the shifter wouldn't go into gear anymore. Cost me $387 to have the dealer fix it
i was showing leakage in the master cylinder, and the mechanic wanted to replace the master cylinder, but i asked him to bleed the clutch first to see if that would fix it. he adamantly refused saying he's absolutely sure i need to replace the master cylinder, and would not bleed the clutch even if i paid him, saying it was a waste of time.
so i bled the clutch myself and have never had a problem since. this was 3 years ago.

i think you could have fixed it by bleeding the clutch.
