Default necessary piece or just worthless metal?

Just wondering. Either way its off the car. Its from the passenger side along what I think was the stock exhaust tunnel.

It's the heat shield for the exhaust system......

Some would say it's function outweighs the minimal weight penalty.

Well, I do know of a guy in an S2K who melted his carpet on a long trip down to the Dragon. I don't recall if it was an exhaust leak or a missing heat shield, though. I seem to recall he was missing the heat shield. Just sayin'

Yep, I remember that guy. Drove a Red AP1. I have a picture somewhere. He had a 3" exhaust put it and it was too close to the passenger floor board.

Yep, that's the culprit. Had his front end held together with blue painter's tape (nope, not as a bug shield for the trip). I suspect he was probably missing the heat shield as it wouldn't fit with the 3" exhaust would be my guess.

I would put that back on. I feel my passenger floor getting warm from even just the tranny!

nah. my exhaust doesn't come that close to the floor. Its also wrapped with header wrap. I could see it if it were touching or with an inch but its nowhere near that close.

Are you saying it won't fit with your current exhaust?
