Nasty sound at startup
Hey guys, I did a quick search and I didn't find anything. Also, not sure how to exactly begin searching for this.
When I start my car up cold in the mornings, there is a nasty grindy sound that happens for just a fraction of a second as the engine begins to rev up to the cold idle, I wanna say ~1300 rpm. I push and hold the start button and the engine spins up nice and easy, but there is some weird buzzy metallic grindy sound that lasts just a little longer after I've taken my finger off the button. I have no idea how to describe it. Just sounds unpleasant. Like perhaps, by sitting overnight, and in cold, something isn't lubricated right at the start-up moment, but quickly gets oiled. Also, my other guess is that the starter is taking too long to pull away, or however that works. The sound does not happen when starting the engine when warm.
Any ideas at all? Info: MY05, approaching 90k miles, no engine mods, besides CAI and Exhaust.
Cheers!
