burning plastic/rubber smell = things getting hot and burning off "coatings" - or a plastic bag stuck to some part of the exhaust system.

skunky stinky can't stand it burny smell = clutch slippage.

Sorry for the late reply, well it smelled like sulfur like a skunk though and as i stated before i had a 92 civic that pushed very hard and never smelt it before.

I asked my buddy of mine today and he thinking it may have been clutch.

I am sorry if this isnt a big deal but id rather catch it if its early signs of a problem.

"Sulfur smell from exhaust
All gasolines contain trace amounts of sulfur. The exhaust will emit varying degrees of sulfur odor depending on operating temperatures and conditions. It may not be possible to eliminate sulfur odor completely due to operating conditions."

was ur 92 hatch new? it was probably WELL over break in period. right?

As for the smell..hmmm...did ur fren poop his pants cuz the s2 is FAST! lol. jk. but i really think its probably the coatings like everyone else said. i used to work for a company call "thrifty auto carriors" and wat we did there was move BRAND SPANKIN NEW cars from the docks to dealerships. and believe me, i used to WOT on the new cars with less than 50mi =). anywayz wen i did that there was a really gross smell. which im thinkin is the protective coating/new exhaust.

I dont think u should worry bro.

Enjoy ur s2

Sulfur smell is normal. I believe your owners manual or at least the honda owner's link has an FAQ regarding this. But anyway, it's just sulfur making it through your emissions system as it is a byproduct of the gasoline combustion. Nothing to worry about in most cases.
